An Elephant named Lonely

An elephant named Lonely thumped in my heart

and turned it to

stone.

IT

opened my eyes to the darkness around and

wherever I hid, IT found me.

I found IT in reflections, the rain, faces on the bus,

toilet paper at 4am.

I believed IT was me,

but IT was a tumour of dankness,

an infested ache, that disappeared for an hour

or two at chat clubs.

I took IT daily to chat clubs

and guess what?

IT decided not to hang around with me

IT left me alone

Was I gloomy

or was I in peace?
